Want to experience all things Christmas under one roof? Gaylord Palms Resort is the place to be
This beautiful Sunday, the Mayne Mafia has been invited out to preview Christmas at Gaylord Palms and I can tell you that I am super excited. As you know, if you have followed the channel, we have been to Gaylord Palms Resort and Spa a few times before and it is always spectacular. From the different atriums and sections depicting areas of Florida to the amazingly awesome Cypress Springs Water Park, Gaylord Palms Resort is one of the most inclusive and beautiful resorts in Orlando.
However, on this stay we are hosted to see and experience some of the most creative and incredible Christmas decorations yet. Also was included an overnight stay, so that we could take time and enjoy the preview tonight and then take part and have some fun at the Elf on a Shelf Character Breakfast and take a trip down the snow tube slide that was not open last night. During Christmas at Gaylord Palms, you will be able to see more than 2 million holiday lights and acres of magnificent decorations, and ‘through the lens of this livestreamer’ we were only able to see just a small portion of everything that is wonderful about this along with spectacular holiday activities and events that are sure to get you in the spirit of the season and create lasting family memories!
From the incredible Christmas tree light show called Christmas Dreams, the Cirque Dreams Unwrapped Stage Show, the holiday nativity show, to the main event of ICE! showcasing the Polar Express expertly crafted by 140 Chinese artisans all out of ice, there is a lot to see and do here. So for the visit this time, we have a lot on the agenda.
We first were able to see the spectacular light show that is always worth seeing over and over. We then had a first time look at the Cirque Dreams Unwrapped Stage show which had us holding our breath to some of the talented and amazing artists that make up this incredibly colorful and musical show. After that, we had a small taste of the Three Kings show that depicts the coming of the Christ child and wow, were they amazing.
As we made our way over to the many different parts of this holiday event, we discovered that our good friends, DisLyfeOfOurs was sampling some of the yummy goodies that they had out from holiday craft beer to decadent bread pudding. I do want to thank Rachel for coming to the rescue with my gloves as we were about to go into the most outrageous and beautiful part of Christmas at Gaylord Palms Resort, the ICE! portion with Polar Express being the theme this year. Before that, we stopped by to listen to the storytelling of the sugar plum fairy and her companion, which is also where you would make your masterpiece of a gingerbread house during your visit.
As we made our way to the Alpine Village, the look and feel of this vintage wonderland was so cozy and warm and we even were able to stop in and listen to Mrs Clause as she read some holiday tale to children and adults alike. After saying hello and thanking Mrs. Clause (and of course the Big Guy himself who was busy in the workshop) we tipped our hat to her elf helper and continued to the land of bitter cold. We met up with Meeha, one of the “elves” at Christmas at Gaylord Palms who was so helpful in helping this livestreamer grab some content down the ice made slide even though jeans and ice did not make for a truly slippery journey. After giving it another go, we decided that the backpack may have been the “scrooge” keeping us from having some frolicking fun, but this is about working more than playing.
As we got closer to the ICE! exhibit, I could feel the cold, and I mean COLD…9 degrees (which I feel was even colder) and as I donned my parka and gloves and geared up for weather of which I am not used to, this livestreamer to a risk of not only him freezing but the equipment as well (they do warn you about that when you enter the exhibit). Even though it was a cold like I have never felt, it was spectacular! Colorful, glistening statues that were even larger than life were everywhere, from trumpeters heralding in the season, Christmas trees with shiny ornaments to the stoic conductor of the Polar Express and yes, the magical train that was truly amazing, all made out of ice. These artisans are masters of their craft and it is just astonishing how they can take blocks of ice and bring them to life with personalities of their own. As we made our way through the tunnels, yes, of ice, we entered different themed rooms that were just as beautiful as the last. We entered a room where clear ice that looked like crystal brought to life the story of Jesus and the Three Wise Men, along shepherds, animals and angels that were, well, heavenly. This scene was breathtaking and inspiring and I could have stayed in there all night if not for my face going numb.
As we made our way back to Alpine Village, and the night came to a close, it was such a beautiful event and I was so happy to be able to bring you along as we previewed this event. Stay tune to spokesmayne on Instagram for more pictures and stories from Christmas at Gaylord Palms and Elf on a Shelf Character Breakfast that we were invited to attend. You may even see this livestreamer sliding down an ice slide!
