The Birthday Celebration Continues at Universal Orlando Resort and Volcano Bay

Saying that I live in one of the most awesome places is an understatement. I realize every day how blessed I am that I can not only be able to spend my birthday at the most incredible theme parks in the world but the fact that I live right next to them is sometimes mind blowing.

So, for my birthday celebration, I had to visit another one of my favorite parks, Universal Orlando Resort and we also wanted to spend some time at Volcano Bay. The best place to stay (besides the Mayne Mansion) when you want to visit Universal Orlando’s theme parks? Of course their awesome resorts. We recently stayed at Universal’s Cabana Bay and we loved is so much, we decided to stay there again for my birthday.

The resort is just my vibe, very casual, beachy and that old time retro feeling that brings back special memories for me with my family.

Check in was super quick, and although we got there early (coming over from Disney at check out from Disney’s Old Key West Resort) they had our room ready to go and we were chillaxin’ within 30 minutes. The rooms are very good size and clean, boasting the colors and style of the 60’s and 70’s which is very fun. They even have zest soap in the bathroom and VO shampoo and conditioner which apparently were very popular back in the day. We though that this small touches really made the theming of this resort come together.

Of course we booked the Volcano view room. I am telling you, once you stay in this room, overlooking Volcano Bay, you will want to stay here again and again. There is nothing like seeing the Volcano lit up at night, shimmering with beautiful colors and waking you up with the sounds of the drums at 7 am in the morning (ok, maybe some do).

We stayed in Beachside, a very tall, blue and cylinder shaped building and walking over from the resort to Volcano Bay was very convenient and took only about 5 minutes and the bus stop to hop on the Universal Orlando transportation is about 3 minutes away. The bus ride from the resort to Universal City Walk was about 4 minutes and we had an extremely energetic and fun bus driver named Ruben who made the trip over not only enjoyable but geared us up for the fun we were about to have that day. Since I usually drive or Uber over to the parks, it was nice to be able to take in this aspect of staying at the resort and the bus was comfortable, seating was socially distanced and as always with theme park resorts, included with your stay.

We had a great time at Universal Orlando that day as the weather was quite chilly and after a pretty full day we headed back to Cabana Bay to relax and have some dinner. There was a fire pit going and Alessa had got some smore’s kits and sticks at the Food Court earlier so we could enjoy some chilly night fire pit time. It was a popular place so we opted to wait for another night and went to grab dinner and take it back to the room. Now they do not have mobile ordering at this time except for pizza only on Friday and Saturdays. there is also no room service either so you will have to still pick it up. I got the roasted chicken which I have to tell you, I probably at at least 3 times during our stay, as it is so delicious. Alessa got the beef churassco and she raved about it (coming from someone that usually does not eat meat) and really loved the chimichurri sauce that comes with it. They give you a big portion of food and we were glad that there is a small fridge in the room as we snacked on it later.

Our final day the weather thankfully warmed up and we hit Volcano Bay super early. Now it was spring break but even with that, we had no problem finding a place to lounge out and relax, underneath an umbrella right in front of where you exit the Ko’okiri Body Plunge. We could even here the team member giving the countdown to those getting shot down the clear tubes through the Volcano. So fun! Relaxing, getting some sun, listening to the tropical music and of course hearing the excitement when the drums start beating and Krakatau starts churning and the wave pool really starts waving! It was an incredible day and we will definitely be back again soon.

I wish that I could show you more of Volcano Bay on stream but unfortunately you cannot film on the slides. But, I am hoping to be able to bring you more water park fun as we move into our upgraded equipment and with Alessa’s help as well. For this trip, it was more about enjoying the final days of the birthday celebration and just relaxing.
