I Became Deadpool..Even if For a Night
Spooky season is upon us at the Magic Kingdom with opening night of Disney Villains After Hours Event! I want to thank Disney for inviting me out to this amazing night where I became much more than a live streamer, I became a super villian!
Fun, food, special merchandise, shows and an extra special parade are all in store for you when you attend this separate ticketed event. So what did I think about it? Is it worth the money? At a pricepoint of $145 for an adult ticket, I find it pretty steep. With that said, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the cost isn’t justified. The after hours event runs from 9pm-12am however, you gain access to the park starting at 7pm.
If you know you’re visiting the parks before Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in October and/or might miss the Halloween party, you can still get some SPOOKS in your life with Disney Villains After Hour event which runs on 24 select nights from Feb 7th through July 10th. One thing to keep in mind, is that this event is very different from the Halloween party. For starters, there are WAY LESS PEOPLE!
Seriously, let’s talk about the crowds. They’re basically non-existent! Everything is about a 5 minute wait so in just a few hours you can ride almost everything; which is nearly impossible to pull off during regular park hours, even with Fastpasses.
You also get unlimited popcorn, drinks & Mickey bars throughout the duration of the event. It’s crazy, you just walk up to the stands and grab whatever you want. I felt like the Disney police were going to come after me, because it seemed too good to be true!
As far as entertainment goes… there is an amazing castle stage show ‘Villians Unite the Night’, hosted by the Lord Of The Underworld, Hades himself and his unwilling sidekick, Megara. The villains have taken over Magic Kingdom and need help converting the castle to EVIL. Other villains end up making an appearance like Jafar, Dr. Facilier, Maleficent & More! It’s one of my favorites.
NEW this year is ‘Disney Villains Cursed Caravan’ which spotlights Maleficent’s dragon stalking down main street breathing fire in all her glory. Along her side are other villains like Oogie Boogie, Queen Of Hearts (and her deck of cards) & Gaston on Horseback to start off the parade in it’s dastardly style. Ursula was busy ‘slinking’ her way through the parade as well followed by her slithery friends.
There is also some special villian-inspired additions in attractions like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. There are new special photo ops included with the night as well as some wickedly conjured up food items.
I also was able to get into the “spirit” of things and have became a “dead” ringer for one of my favorite super villian/hero, Deadpool. Character Couture is available at Walt Disney World Resort spas, but if you prefer to bring the experience to you, it’s also available for in-room services, for an additional fee. This experience was awesome and I highly recommend it to enhance your awesome night.
Okay, so what’s the verdict? Worth the money? It’s ultimately going to depend on your budget, schedule & willingness to deal with crowds. If you are willing to pay a little extra for less crowds.. then yes, it’s absolutely worth it and a great alternative to Halloween Parties!
Tickets for Disney Villains After Hours are available to purchase in advance for $145 plus tax or $155 plus tax on the event night. That’s at $10 savings if you buy early!
