I know, I know. First it was Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Then it was Dark Horizons. THEN the final blow just recently announced, the cancellation of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort. Is all lost?? Is Halloween really cancelled??
Wait! On the horizon is a glimmer of hope. Yes, maybe Halloween will still appear but just a little different than what we have been used to. 2020 has become a year of unexpected situations and we have had to adapt and change the best way that we know how and we are all doing our best to get through it together.
So on that note, there is a new type of Halloween event coming to Central Florida this fall. The Haunted Road is a drive thru Halloween experience, full of twisted creatures, immersive theatrical storytelling and blood curdling encounters. I am getting super stoked already!!
This will be a new, completely contactless Halloween experience. Details are just coming out but don’t worry but here is what we do know (with some help from our friends at the Orlando Sentinel).[There’s] an increasing need to find new, safe outdoor entertainment,” said Jessica Mariko, executive producer and creative principal of The Haunted Road. “We knew it was the perfect time to develop a unique Halloween experience so everyone can enjoy a dose of horror this upcoming Halloween season, from the comfort of their car.”
Even the arrival process at The Haunted Road will remain free of contact by using license plates for check-in. This I think is super cool and what a great idea!!
The original storyline for the car-based experience will follow the “untold story” of Rapunzel as she faces terrifying creatures and scares. A family-friendly version of the event will also be available during the daytime on select weekends.
The Haunted Road plans to cast local actors and performers prior to its opening this fall. Virtual auditions will take place Aug. 13-16. I was so glad to see this as we know many of our friends who were looking forward to a season with other themed events would not have that opportunity to work this year due to cancellations of those events.
In order to help fund the fearsome festivities, the attraction plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign soon with rewards including advance tickets. The event will run from late September through the end of October and is set to take place in Orlando, though a specific location has yet to be announced. Admission will start at $15 per person.
You know that I will be checking in regularly to get the first details on this awesome new experience and will be taking you with me during the spooky season.
Be sure and keep checking back here at spokesmayne.co for more information and updates on this event and much more. Also follow on Instagram, Facebook and of course, Youtube so that you don’t miss a single adventure as we move through the summer and into the fall.
