It seems that every time you open up My Disney Experience, there is a new update to some safety protocol. Of course, I am not complaining as this looks like things are moving forward and in a positive direction, which is wonderful! Now we can let those smiles shine!
Today, the official news broke that Walt Disney World will be updating their mask policy as of June 15th.
Starting Tuesday, fully vaccinated guests at Disney World will no longer be required to wear face coverings in most areas of the Orlando, Florida, theme park, according to MyDisneyExperience. Masks will still be required for all guests on Disney transportation, including buses, monorails and the Disney Skyliner, which honestly still makes sense.
The park, at this time, does not require visitors to provide proof of vaccination but said it expects guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor areas, upon entering and throughout attractions and transportation. Of course, even if you are fully vaccinated and still may feel more comfortable wearing a mask in some areas, know that this is always a choice.
This new mask policy follows a recent update to COVID-19 guidelines in Orange County, where Disney World is located. The county lifted all local face mask recommendations on June 5th. As I mentioned, things are moving so fast, I still wear my mask when I go to Publix or even inside other stores or restaurants. Frankly, it has become second nature.
I do have to say that I am super excited that this policy has come as the park had been enforcing both indoor and outdoor masking until May 15, when it dropped the outdoor mask mandate. The change came shortly after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased its masking guidelines for fully vaccinated Americans, saying they would no longer need to wear face coverings in most indoor situations. I know I have mentioned it many times on stream, but I think that the indoor/outdoor policy was very confusing for most and if you come from other theme parks (which we will not mention here) that lifted the face coverings both outdoor and indoor, it was slightly annoying. I think the best part is going to be able to walk around with a drink or a food item now in the park. Bring back those chicken skewers and all will be right with the world!!
Disney World is also relaxing physical distancing guidelines, and will have updated guidelines visible in places like queues, shops, restaurants, attraction boarding, transportation and theaters. We have seen these changes also especially during the live streams. Some attractions may still operate with limited capacity or remain temporarily closed, according to its website.
“We’re not quite ready to bring back everything yet,” the website reads, “but we are optimistic and look forward to the day when Disney pals and princesses are able to hug once again.” Yes, us too!!
