Ok, let’s face it. I have stayed at many resorts. A lot at Walt Disney World and a lot in other theme parks and across the country. But I have to say, without a doubt, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort and Villas is at the top of the list if not THE top.
I have always dreamed of staying here. We have walked by them on stream, gone inside the lobby and taken it in and yes, checked out the well known (and now gone) clown-faced pool. I could never have imagined that I would be able to stay here, because well, to be honest, it is a pricey place and the room that we were so fortunate to be hosted, is for DVC members only (Boardwalk for general bookings was not open at the time of this writing).
Checking in was a breeze and can be done touchless, using My Disney Experience. Your room can be unlocked with either a key card or your magic band. One change from even a year ago, complimentary magic bands are no longer being provided to guests, however, you can still purchase them. Due to the resort not being fully open, there was not a lot of people and the whole place seemed to be all to ourselves.
Our room was a preferred view studio villa and I cannot tell you how excited I was when I stepped out on the balcony and saw the Tower of Terror staring back at me! Sitting out there, chillin’ and having a snack and adult beverage, well, life just doesn’t get any better than this. Frankly, I know that everyone loves to go to the parks, rushing there as soon as they get settled in their room and leaving at the break of dawn to catch rope drop and stay till close, and that is a lot of fun and sometimes a necessity when you only have so much time to see everything. Let’s face it, when my family came to Walt Disney World on vacation, it was a well oiled machine once we stepped into the bubble and time was of the essence when it came to seeing and experiencing everything in the parks. But, where I am now, staying at an incredible resort like the Boardwalk is an adventure and experience all within itself. The accommodations are beautiful, complete with mini fridge, microwave in the kitchenette which has everything that you need.
Just looking out at the beautiful pool and grounds and then seeing the parks was breathtaking. The resort also boasts the fact that you can take the monorail into the parks (there are some limitations right now) as well as friendship boats over to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, even hoping on Disney’s Skyliner for a birds eye view of some other resorts and the parks. If you want to get some sightseeing in along with some exercise, you can also walk over to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios if you like and the walk along the waterfront during our stay was beautiful. Safety protocols are prominent both at the resort with social distancing and mandatory face covering as well as plexiglass dividers on most methods of transportation now throughout Walt Disney World Resort.
Of course, one of the biggest and most coveted perks to staying at a Disney resort is the bath amenities. As just showcased in Disney Parks Blog this week, we were so happy when we saw the beautiful display of those H2O+ bath products in our bathroom. I would say that people stay in the resorts just for those great smelling soaps, etc. Did you know that our friends at H2O+ provide luxurious in-room amenities for over 43,000 resort rooms at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa and Disney Cruise Line and also the bathroom at the Mayne Mansion (wink, wink).
Along with the beautiful surroundings, we got to experience some of the amenities outside of the villa such as the Leaping Horse Libations (say that three times fast) and got some very carnival-esque themed drinks such as the Tilt-A-Whirl and the Roller Coaster Meltdown. They have fun drinks for the younger ones as well as sandwiches and salads, love the frankfurter preztel dog, just shouts Coney Island and desserts. It is a very fun place to hang out and just take in the fun of this pool area which is one of three at the resort.
If you are looking for a place that checks off all of the items on your vacation list, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort would absolutely do that. From the second you walk into the lobby with the magnificent chandelier of carousel horses, to the spacious rooms, balcony views, strolls along the boardwalk and the relaxing beach and pool areas, it is a place that you may not want to ever leave and forget that you are right next to the Walt Disney World parks.
