Yesterday, we had the pleasure of taking a ride over to Universal Orlando Resort for two reasons: First, to see if we could again ride VelociCoaster and secondly, to check out the newly opened Jurassic World Tribute Store which opened on May 27th.
Now, Universal Orlando Resort is known for the Tribute Store. The theming switches out every season celebrating events like Mardi Gras, HHN and Holiday Tribute Store which premiered for the first time last November, and now showcasing new attractions. The beginning of the Tribute Store began with HHN’s 25th Anniversary and it strictly being an HHN store but fans fell in love with the concept and it has grown ever since.
The store has incredible theming, inspired by the hit movie franchise and features three themed rooms filled with merchandise and other exclusive items. It takes you inside the InGen science lab, with props used in the original “Jurassic Park” movie.
Inside the Control Room, you will find a recreation of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster control as well as merchandise inspired by the new attraction. The Raptor Paddock has dinosaur-themed items and tropical-themed items like tie-dye hoodies and beach hats (yes, I love mine).
In addition to merchandise, the store boasts a variety of food and beverage items, including VelociCoaster s’mores and cupcakes, chocolate dinosaur eggs, which are huge and “dig-in” dessert jar filled with chocolate cake. For the ‘young at heart’ there is also merchandise from the animate series “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.”
With the newest rules coming out of Universal Orlando Resort (which seem to change practically every day), fully vaccinated guests are no longer required, still optional however, to wear a face covering while in the park. Social distancing is still recommended and those that are not vaccinated are still expected to wear a face covering while indoors. As more and more people are getting the vaccine, we can look forward to things moving in a positive direction and things coming back to a more normal vacation experience.
Meanwhile, Jurassic World VelociCoaster officially opens to the public at Islands of Adventure on June 10.
