Howl-O-Scream – 20 Years of Frightening Fun at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Busch Gardens revealed two possible iconic characters through the video clips on its Howl-O-Scream social media accounts. The first clip quickly shows fans a glimpse of the face of what appears to be Dr. Livingsdoom, which is a character who first appeared when Howl-O-Scream started in 2000.

The character was an evil mad scientist who served as the tour guide for the Haunted Jungle Trail maze.  He also made an appearance in Labyrinth of Lost Souls, a prison-like maze where trapped souls haunted the living through a variety of special effects, according to a BGT History blog.

Another giveaway that this character is the caption on the park’s tweet stating, “It all started 20 years ago …”

The second clue clip also quickly flashes on the name Trickster and the year 2012 and shows a masked face, which looks similar to the Trickster character, which became the icon character in 2012.

The sinister clown-like mask and haunting eyes had fans on social media identifying the character as Trickster.

In the later part of the day, the park unveiled a third returning character—The Butcher.

The cannibalistic hillbilly first appeared in 2013 and then again in 2017 and 2018 where his story was part of the meat market and Simon’s Slaughterhouse.

“Momma’s always been proud of her son, the Butcher. He’s always been there to protect her and help with the family business,” Busch Gardens Tampa Bay wrote in a previous YouTube description of the character.

Although the park’s Howl-O-Scream Twitter and Facebook accounts didn’t directly identify the characters—at least no longer than a second, its Instagram page did, confirming what fans suspected.

Howl-O-Scream will return to the park for 22 select nights, running from Sept. 20 through Nov. 2 on select days from 7:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. For a limited time, tickets to the event will be available at low prices with these special offers:
