Disney Springs Begins Phased Reopening on May 20; Restaurants Confirmed for Opening

{Update as of 050820}

With the Governor and county officials of Florida are slowly and cautiously moving forward on how they will be reopening the state, including restaurants and shopping, Disney Springs will begin their phased reopening on May 20. Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase. The rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels. This makes me think that not all of Disney Springs will be opening, keeping those stores such as the character warehouse, Disney Style, World of Disney, still closed at this point in time.

As they continue to monitor conditions, and with the health of guests and Disney cast members at the forefront of their planning, they are making several operational changes. Disney Springs will begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures, including increased cleaning procedures, the use of appropriate face coverings by both cast members and guests, limited-contact guest services and additional safety training for cast members.

Disney will apply learnings and ideas from leaders in the health and travel industries, and they are also talking to their unions as they prepare for some cast members to return to work.

Confirmed! These Restaurants Will Be Reopening at Disney Springs in Disney World on May 20th

While the rest of Walt Disney World Resort including Disney-owned stores, restaurants, theme parks, and hotels will remain closed for the time being, we do have confirmation that the following dining locations will reopen at Disney Springs on May 20th. We will be updating this post as we receive confirmation from more dining locations.

Wine Bar George

Wine Bar George has confirmed on their website that they intend to reopen May 20th at noon. Their employees will be adhering to even stricter food safety and sanitation standards while all team members will be required to pass a health check before their shift. For dining room safety procedures, social distancing guidelines will be followed for both indoor and outdoor seating. Place settings, tables, chairs, utensils, and condiments in both dining areas and common areas will be sanitized after each use and all menus will be contact-less. Guests will be asked to view menus with their own personal devices and contact-less payment will be encouraged but is not required at this time.

STK Orlando

We have also received verbal confirmation from STK Orlando that they will also be reopening. They have not shared specifics on their individual plan for implementing new health and safety precautions at this time, but we will share this information with you guys as soon as it is released.

According to Disney Food Blog at the time of this release (May 9, 2020) these restaurants will NOT be opening on May 20th.

Raglan Road Irish Pub. A spokesperson stated that they are working on a reopening plan but until it is in place, they will remain closed.

During the initial opening phase, Disney Springs will have limitations on capacity, parking and operating hours. Given this unprecedented situation, everyone’s patience and understanding is appreciated as they navigate through this process as responsibly as possible. Additional protocols and procedures may be announced closer to the opening date.
